Lausanne Davis Carpenter
Artist, Color Consultant, Scenery & Lighting Designer
I grew up in Hampton, Virginia. In 1986 I earned a BFA from the State University of New York (Purchase College) in Theatre Design and Technology. I worked in New York City and regional theatres as a freelance designer and painted scenery for Off-Broadway, opera, MTV, Nickelodeon, industrial shows and videos.
In 1989 I left NYC for England where I lived until 1996. There I worked as a volunteer counselor/community worker and was involved in relief work in Eastern Europe, Africa and Central Asia. I also completed several art/design commissions while in London.
I returned to the US in 1996, met my husband James and left with him in 1998 for four years of development work in Indonesia. This experience gave me the unique opportunity to appreciate South-East Asian arts and culture. We returned to the US in December 2002.
In March 2003, I opened Marsh Hawk Studio and began applying my theatre skills to residential and commercial interiors creating murals, decorative finishes, fine art and furniture on commission for home owners and interior designers.
From 2004-2009 I had the privilege of designing scenery and lighting for professional theatre companies in VA and PA.
I am an Associate Member of the International Association of Color Consultants – a European-based academy that accredits architects, interior designers, environmental designers, etc. after satisfactory completion of seminars, projects and examinations.
In 2010, my husband and I moved to Jacksonville, Florida where I continue to expand my artistic opportunities and am enjoying new clients.
